An artist-in-residence in China without an accompanying structure of people knowing the whereabouts and the local context is of course possible. But not efficient, and clearly not convenient in what concerns meeting the society and its people.

It is true that English does not always function in China whether you want to take a taxi or just discuss with other people. This is the reason why GZ New Media, besides the hardware of the studio and the living area, also provides the residing artist with assistance in what concerns translation and integration into the surrounding context. For which it has established a pool of volunteers, made up of students from different universities.
